Boating, camping and fishing.

Boating enthusiasts are drawn to Lake Nasworthy mostly for the fishing, but this reservoir also provides plenty of room for boating and water sports. This 1,380-acre lake is located in the central part of the state, at San Angelo. There are numerous boat launch ramps around the lake for easy launching of pleasure boats, ski boats, sailboat, pontoons and fishing boats. Bass, crappie, sunfish and hybrid stripers are also pursued here by local anglers. The lake has a significant amount of aquatic vegetation which is the primary cover for fish and baitfish. Rip rap banks are another option for holding fish, as are the many boat docks and boat houses around the lake. Bass tend to stay in the weeds when shallow, moving deeper in summer and winter. Crappie tend to hang around docks and bridge pilings. The lake is often overlooked in favor of larger neighboring lakes, Twin Buttes Reservoir and OC Fisher Lake - which reduces the competition here. There is plenty of shoreline to fish, however access for bank fishing is somewhat limited. Fishing boats, canoes and kayaks are the best way to reach the majority of the fishing water.
