Half a dozen boat launch ramps provide conveniently launching of all types of pleasure and fishing boats. At parks, campgrounds and other locations there is access to the shoreline for portage of canoes and kayaks or fishing from the bank. Known for consistent striped bass, hybrid stripers and white bass fishing, it is also home to bass, catfish, crappie, gar, bluegill and several other breeds of sunfish. The lake has considerable amount of aquatic vegetation, including smartweed, which tends to attract baitfish and predators alike. When the fish are shallow, in spring and fall, they are drawn to this cover. During summer and winter they may move to deeper water as they follow schools of baitfish looking for more comfortable water conditions. White bass, stripers and hybrids tend to follow the schools of baitfish. Catfish fishing, which is excellent most of the time here, is good around creek channels and river beds.
