A popular destination for a boating and fishing vacation, Castle Rock Lake is a 14,000-acre lake in the central part of WI. Ten boat launch ramps make for easy launching of pleasure or fishing boats. Buckhorn State Park and Buckhorn Wildlife Area have parking and access to the lake for portage of a canoe or kayak. Marina services, fishing tackle, stores, restaurants, camping, RV hookups and lodging are all conveniently located at, or nearby the lake. There is 60 miles of shoreline, some of which can be accessed for fishing from the bank at public boat landings, public beaches and campground areas. In winter, ice fishing is popular when the ice is safe. The lake has populations of bass, crappie, walleye, catfish, sauger, sturgeon, northern pike, muskie perch, and several kinds of sunfish.
