Lake Texoma In Oklahoma

Boating, camping and fishing.
With lots of room for all types of boating and water recreation, Lake Texoma is a 93,000-acre reservoir with 1,250 miles of shoreline. Camping, boating and fishing are the primary activities here. A dozen marinas conveniently located around the lake offer gas, boat rentals, snacks, fishing tackle, bait, and standard services for boaters. Choose from more than 20 camping areas. Boat launch ramps all around the lake provide easy launching of all types and sizes of pleasure and fishing boats. The lake straddles the southern border of Oklahoma, 10 miles southwest of Durant. At various locations around the lake there are public access areas for fishing from the bank as well as launching small craft like kayaks and canoes. Famous for exceptional striped bass fishing, the lake sports three species of bass, three species of catfish, both species of crappie, several species of sunfish and three kinds of gar. There is somewhat limited aquatic vegetation for cover, but timber, brush, rocks, ledges, points, creek channels and boat docks are favorite holding spots for bass, crappie and sunfish. Stripers and white bass tend to follow schools of baitfish - once you find the bait, the fish will be close by. Look for crappie around standing timber, boat dock pilings and brush. Catfish relate to creek and river channels and are catchable year round.
