An excellent destination for boating and fishing, Lake Thunderbird is virtually surrounded by parks and public lands. This 5,300-acre reservoir, in central Oklahoma, is only 5 minutes east of Norman. Nine boat launch ramps serve boaters wishing to go skiing, sightseeing or fishing. Boats are available for rent, or bring your own kayak, canoe, pleasure boat, pontoon, ski boat or fishing boat. Marinas, parks, camping, dining, convenience stores, and other local amenities welcome visitors to this friendly community. 86 miles of shoreline welcome anglers fishing from the bank, or from a boat in search of the many fish species residing here. Crappie, catfish, bass, saugeye, and sunfish are here in relative good numbers.
